The Molecular Design & Innovation Laboratory (MINDlab) is a modern wet lab designed to support cutting-edge research in synthetic chemistry and functional materials. The lab is fully equipped with benches, fume hoods, and instrumental rooms, providing a safe and efficient environment for experimental research.

Our in-house equipment includes: Two Gas Chromatographs (Agilent, with autosampler) and a GC-MS system (Scion, with autosampler), ATR/FTIR Spectrophotometer (Shimadzu), Heating and Drying Ovens, Crystallization Thermostat, Microscopes, High-pressure Gas/Liquid Reactor Systems and Hydrothermal Reactors, Thermo-shaker Blocks, Centrifuges, Ultrasonic Bath, Glass Reactor Set-ups for Self-assembly Synthesis and Catalysis, and 3D Printers for Innovative Design and Prototyping.

Beyond our own facilities, MINDlab researchers have access to the state-of-the-art infrastructure of CQE-IST, which includes: solution and solid-state NMRs, mass spectrometry, UV–vis, HPLC, TGA, TEM/SEM microscopes, and X-ray diffraction systems.

MINDlab is a dynamic space where young researchers, MSc and PhD students can improve their skills and make new discoveries in a multidisciplinary research setting. Based on publication output of our Research Team (Research.com), we are ranked among the Top 10 Research Labs at Instituto Superior Técnico.
