Dr. Adrián Pastor developed his PhD in Chemistry (Cum Laude, International Mention; 2022) at University of Córdoba (UCO), Spain. He was also a visiting PhD student (9 months) at University of Oxford (UK) with Prof. Dermot O'Hare. He later got competitive funding to continue his Postdoc at UCO (10 months, Luis Sánchez Group), Instituto Superior Técnico (1 year, Lisbon, Alexander Kirillov Group) and Instituto de Tecnología Química (1 year, Valencia, Hermenegildo García Group). He is currently a Junior Researcher at MINDlab ('CEEC Individual' competitive program).

Current Research is focused on Materials Engineering and Inorganic Chemistry, Environmental Engineering and Photocatalysis, with an emphasis on Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) and derived materials, mechanistic studies and applications. Selected applicaions of LDHs include: (i) heterogeneous photocatalysts for NOx removal, (ii) photocatalytic removal of pollutants in water, (iii) CO2 photoreduction, and (iv) controlled release systems (biocidal agents). Sustainability, cost-effectiveness, and scale-up feasibility are the main factors considered for the design of new compounds and materials.
